Windy
Acres Arabians has been in operation since January 1951 in
Basom, which is located 25 miles northeast of Buffalo, New
York. The Rombaugh Family (Jim, Virginia, Pam & Pat) breed,
raise and train Arabian, Half-Arabians and NSH’s. They also
board horses on 250 acres of lush pasture.
The farm houses: (2) horse barns, hay barn, (5) pastures,
outdoor riding ring, round pen, country farm house,
storage shed and lots of open space for trail riding.
Presently, (24) Arabians/NSH’s/Minis, (3) Dogs and (4)
Cats live on the farm.
Jim (the
father) is a retired American Airlines Pilot and spends
his days doing what he loves "Aerial Photography".
Virginia (the mother) works part-time and assists with
the horses. Pat (daughter) lives in the state of Georgia
and shows her horses to numerous championships. Pam
(daughter) lives on the farm, works full-time and takes
care of all the horses daily – that is real dedication!
One
of the many stars at the farm and in the show ring is the
exquisite NSH Pinto gelding "Kokomo Key", affectionately
known as "Patrick". Patrick is a 12 year old sweetheart, he
has a fan club wherever he goes and has a list of winnings
too numerous to fit all on this page. I can tell you he wins
at Country English Pleasure, Western, Hunter Pleasure,
Halter – actually whatever he puts his mind too – he wins!
Born at
Windy Acres is another NSH Pinto gelding named "WA River
Dance", affectionately known as "Fraser". Fraser is a
yearling that has already started raking in the blue
ribbons. Pam hopes that Fraser will be able to replace
Patrick when the time comes to retire him.
They have
an assortment of horses for sale at all times, please
see the For Sale section for the list. If you are in the
area and would like to see these and the other wonderful
horses, please give them a call – the coffee is always
on!
