I
first saw W. A. Khomet +/ in June, 1987, shortly after he
was born.
He was the first foal bred by my Uncle Don and Aunt Rae
Weeks to their stallion, Khount Down +//. A few years later,
he was purchased by Reg and Betty Lambert. Khomet won many
Regional titles for them and his trainer, Maureen Quillen.
One day, Betty asked me if I would like to show him in
Fitting and Showmanship classes and then also in Hunter
Pleasure. I was thrilled with the opportunity as I really
liked Khomet. Then, the Lamberts were moving to Florida and
Khomet was for sale. My family purchased him in December,
1994, and he was the best Christmas present I ever got!
He was very athletic, had a tremendous personality and was a
joy to work with. He had the sweetest disposition and taught
me a lot. We received many regional titles as well as U. S.
Youth National Top Ten in Show Hack, JTR, 13 and under.
In
November of 1999, Khomet developed laminitis. He never
recovered from it and had to be put to sleep in April. His
life and show career ended all too Soon. He is very sadly
missed, but I am grateful for the many memories and time I
was able to have with him.
"And God shall wipe all tears from their eyes; and there
shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither
shall there be any more pain. . . . "
